Care Guide

Alocasia Dragon Scale Care Guide

Lighting

Place your Dragon Scale in bright, indirect light. Direct sun will scorch the delicate leaves, while too little light will cause the plant to become leggy and lose its vibrant texture.

Watering

Water when the top 2 inches of soil have dried out. These plants are very sensitive to overwatering; ensure the pot has excellent drainage to prevent root rot.

Humidity & Temperature

Maintain high humidity levels (60-80%). If your home is dry, use a humidifier or a pebble tray. Keep temperatures between 60°F and 80°F, and avoid placing it near cold drafts or heaters.

Soil

Use a very chunky, well-draining aroid mix. A combination of potting soil, orchid bark, perlite, and charcoal works best to allow the roots to breathe.

Seasonal Dormancy

Note that Alocasias may enter a period of dormancy during winter. If growth stops or leaves die back, reduce watering and keep the plant in a warm spot until it pushes new growth in spring.
