Thaumatophyllum xanadu

Thaumatophyllum xanadu

The Thaumatophyllum xanadu is a stunning, non-climbing evergreen perennial known for its lush, deeply lobed, leathery green leaves. Unlike many of its Philodendron relatives, it grows in a dense, spreading clump rather than a vine, making it an excellent floor plant for interior spaces. Its architectural form and exotic texture provide a sophisticated tropical feel to any room.

Care Guide

Xanadu Care Guide

Light

Place your Xanadu in a spot with bright, indirect light. While it can tolerate some lower light, it may become leggy. Avoid direct afternoon sun, which can scorch the foliage.

Watering

Water when the top 1-2 inches of soil have dried out. Ensure the pot has drainage holes to prevent root rot. Reduce watering frequency in the winter months.

Soil and Potting

Use a well-draining potting mix, ideally one enriched with organic matter and perlite or orchid bark to ensure aeration.

Temperature & Humidity

Maintain temperatures between 65°F and 85°F (18°C - 29°C). It enjoys humidity; if your home is dry, consider misting or using a humidifier to keep the leaves healthy.

Pruning

Trim any yellowing or damaged leaves at the base of the stem to maintain a tidy appearance and encourage new growth.
